The so-called Minor prophets, Nahum, Habbakuk, Zephaniah, Obadiah, Hosea, Haggai, & Malachi are not often the subject of sermons, with the notable exception of Malachi, who is brought up every time a church leader decides to ask the congregation for money! They are, however, included in the Word for a very specific reason -- the LORD intended for Israel, (and us) to pay close attention to them - and there are wonderful treasures locked up in these books, that is our privilege to reveal to you! We sincerely hope that you will take the time to study the writings of these unique individuals, and that you are blessed as you do so! Understanding the context in which they spoke, is vitally important to truly appreciating their words and actions, and for that reason, we present below a "decoder ring" that shows you the timeline, and audience of ALL the prophets (both "Major" & "Minor") so that you can appreciate the unique perspectives each of them bring to a full-orbed understanding of the heart & mind of the LORD! |
